Security forces’ role during CAN 2010 recognized
The effectives of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), National Police, Fire Services and volunteers played a relevant role during the Orange Africa Cup of Nations- Angola 2010.
This recognition was expressed by the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, during a press conference held in the weekend in stadium 11 de Novembro, in Luanda. On the occasion, the official also informed the competition is an international success and the security forces that protected the stadia and other areas fully carried out their mission. “Without the dedication and commitment of those entities it would not be possible to achieve success in this exemplary competition organized by Angola”, he said.
Gonçalves Muandumba also left a word of appreciation for the physicians from public and private hospitals, who equally gave their knowledge and availability throughout the period of the competition in the four cities that hosted the matches.
He revealed that even after the competition the awareness campaigns against HIV, alcohol and domestic violence will continue to take place in order to banish these problems from the Angolan society.
To the minister, the praise given by other international organizations stimulate Angola to continue to work diligently, with a view to keeping its name on the top of the world arena (…)
