Chiazi National stadium should be used as “a motivation for youngsters”
The president of the National Assembly of Angola, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, inaugurated this Wednesday (30/12) the Chaizi National stadium in Cabinda.
The stadium hosts the national teams of Group B of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations – Angola 2010 taking place from January 10-31, 2010.
Despite hosting the matches for the biggest sports event of Africa, the Chiazi stadium “will be used as a motivation for youngsters in Cabinda to practice sports”, said Fernando da Piedade dos Santos.
Before cutting the ribbon, the champagne and the official opening, religious chants were sung and a prayer was made to the stadium.
Chiazi National stadium holds a capacity for 20,000 spectators, was built by the company China Jiangsu and cost 85 million dollars.
In addition to Chiazi, the National Stadium 11 de Novembro (Luanda), Ombaka (Benguela) and Tundavala (Huila) have been already inaugurated specially for the Orange CAN 2010. Chiazi was the last of the four stadia to be inaugurated.
